Bally's Kansas City is a riverboat casino near downtown Kansas City on the Missouri River. It rates 3.6 from nearly 7,000 Google reviewers.
If you are searching for Isle of Capri, or Casino KC, or the Flamingo Hilton, they are all this building.
The name history, because it matters
The boat launched onto the Missouri River in 1996 as the Flamingo Hilton. It later became Isle of Capri. Eldorado Resorts bought the Isle of Capri chain in 2017. In July 2020 Twin River Worldwide Holdings acquired the property and renamed it Casino KC. Twin River then bought the Bally's brand from Caesars, and in August 2021 the property became Bally's Kansas City.
Four names in three decades is unusual even by casino standards, and it has a practical consequence: local directions, older reviews and mapping data are inconsistent. If a review you are reading calls it something else, check the date before you weigh it.
The property is owned by Gaming and Leisure Properties and operated by Bally's Corporation.
What's on the floor
Nearly 900 slot machines and more than 20 table games across a two-level floor, covering blackjack, roulette, baccarat and video poker.
This is the compact option in Kansas City. Ameristar has 59 tables and 1,900 machines; Harrah's North Kansas City has 46 tables and the metro's poker room. Bally's has neither the scale nor a card room, and it competes instead on being smaller, closer to downtown and quicker to get in and out of.
A $50 million renovation completed in 2023 rebuilt the exterior and added retail and dining space, so the property is in considerably better shape than its older reviews suggest — another reason to check dates.
Dining
Three spots, and the first is the interesting one. The noodle bar seats twenty and serves traditional Vietnamese and Chinese dishes — a genuine small kitchen rather than a casino food-court concession, and the thing regulars mention. Parlays Quick Bites covers the floor, and the Pulse Bar is the casual bar, with electronic table games and screens.
Tips before you go
You must be 21 to gamble, the minimum age at every Missouri casino.
The casino is open 24 hours, seven days a week.
There is no hotel on site, but the downtown location means plenty of rooms within a short drive — which is the property's main argument if you want to be near the city rather than out by the airport.
Nearby alternatives
North-east, Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City has the metro's largest table pit and an 18-screen cinema. Across the river, Harrah's North Kansas City has the WSOP Poker Room. West at Riverside, Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa has a high-limit room with double-deck blackjack.
